Western Springs, Illinois, is a popular place, especially for the millennial generation. The village offers many amenities, including upscale restaurants, boutiques and markets, and Spring Rock Park.

 

The village gets its name from the mineral spring that runs on the southwest side of town. Western Springs has an extensive history dating back to the 18th century, which includes the CB&Q railroad being built through the town in 1863. One of the advantages of having the railway in town is the easy commute into the city of Chicago, which takes only around 20 minutes.

Local Lifestyle

Western Springs is a suburb, but it also has an extensive downtown with plenty of things to do, especially due to the millennial population. Anything you can’t find in town, you can definitely get in Chicago, just a short train ride away. The village is home to well-maintained parks and has highly rated schools making it an ideal location for families. 

 

The village has many spacious and expensive homes that maintain the historical architecture of the time when they were built. Residents take pride in the look of their homes and put in the effort to preserve them.
 

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

The picturesque downtown area houses many restaurants, markets, and boutiques for its residents to partake in and enjoy. Vie is a fine dining experience with a Prix fixed dinner menu full of exquisite dishes and well-crafted cocktails; they also offer smaller bites a la carte. The menu reflects the season and uses locally sourced food for the freshest taste. Davanti Enoteca is another fine dining establishment serving authentic Italian cuisine. Their impressive menu features everything from pasta and pizza to seafood and vegetarian options. 

 

Hash Stacks is a market and cafe specializing in comfort food made from scratch with local ingredients. Whether you are stopping by for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just a cup of coffee, their dishes are sure to leave you satiated. Casey’s Market is a grocery, deli, and butcher shop that has been around since 1969, offering fresh, delicious food options. They even have premade lunch and dinner items that make for a quick and easy meal.  

 

Clever Girl is an adorable boutique that has a little bit of everything from home decor, fragrances, books, kitchen items, kid's clothing, and vintage items; it’s a one-stop shop for all your needs. 

Things To Do 

The Western Springs farmers market, also known as the French Market, is open every Sunday from May through October. They always have a vast selection of goods, including produce, meats, seafood, bread, pastries, chocolates, cheese, wine, homemade goods, and local flowers. The village offers a Christmas Walk and Festival of Trees to get into the holiday spirit. The whole family can enjoy a night of treats, caroling, and carriage rides while they experience the gorgeously decorated trees. 

 

The Gathering on the Green takes place surrounding the iconic and famous Western Springs Water Tower. The festival is a day full of food, beverages, live music, entertainment, and activities that are perfect for adults and children alike. The Theater of Western Springs is a fantastic venue for plays, musicals, workshops, and more. There is even a children's theater where kids can take classes or attend camp to learn skills from the pros themselves!
